Description

A round downlight with a matt white trim and an integrated COB LED set behind it. Output is 1080 lumens at 4000K, a crisp cool white that keeps whites reading as white and edges looking sharp. The beam is on the narrow side, so it lays down a defined pool of light rather than a broad wash, which makes it useful for lighting worktops and floors instead of walls. The driver is supplied with it. It is not dimmable, so it pairs with an ordinary switch rather than a dimmer plate.

We would fit these in kitchens, utility rooms, hall ceilings, landings and home offices, anywhere the light needs to be useful before it is decorative. The 100mm cut-out is the size most ceilings are already set up for, which makes it a sensible choice when you are replacing tired halogen units one for one. Run in a line or a grid, the narrow beam and cool tone suit task areas and circulation space; it is less at home over a dining table or beside a bed, where something warmer and softer does better work. Keep it to dry indoor rooms, away from shower zones and anywhere it would take steam or splashing.

The trim is finished in a low sheen white that sits quietly against a painted ceiling and takes paint colour well around it. Dust it with a dry duster when you do the ceilings, and if the trim marks, a barely damp cloth and a dry wipe afterwards will lift it; no sprays or abrasive creams. It carries a three year warranty. Because the LED is built in, there is no lamp to change.
