Description
The Erinus is a recessed LED step light that sits flush into the wall, marking the edge of a stair or the line of a hallway with a soft, low-level glow. It draws just 0.8W at 12V DC and puts out 15 lumens of warm white light at 3000K, a gentle output meant to guide the eye downward rather than light a whole space. Sold in the US as a recessed step or stair light, it gives a discreet wash close to the floor with a CRI of Ra 80 for natural-looking tones underfoot.
Best placed low on the wall beside steps, along a corridor skirting line or near a landing, the Erinus is built to outline a route rather than fill a room with brightness. Its coverage is deliberately localised: the 15 lumen output throws a short, directed pool of light over the tread or floor immediately below it, enough to make each step visible at night without glare. Because it is rated IP20 it is for dry indoor positions only, so keep it to internal stairwells, hallways and landings and clear of bathrooms, porches or any damp or exposed location. Spacing several units along a flight gives an even run of marker lights down a staircase.
Construction is moulded plastic in a black finish, with a square 75 x 16 x 75 mm body that recesses into the wall on a 16 mm depth and weighs only 26 g. The fixed 3000K LED is integrated and rated for 30,000 hours, and the fitting is not dimmable. It runs on 12V DC rather than mains, so a suitable 12V driver or transformer is needed to power it, which also lets a number of these step lights share one supply along a staircase. The Erinus range includes further square recessed step lights in matching finishes for a consistent look across a flight of stairs.

Frequently Asked
Does the Erinus need a 12V transformer or driver?
Yes. The Erinus runs on 12V DC, not mains voltage, so it must be wired to a suitable 12V driver or transformer. One supply of the right rating can feed several units along a staircase, which keeps wiring tidy when fitting a full run of step lights.
Can it be used outdoors?
No. The Erinus is rated IP20, which is for dry indoor use only. Keep it to internal stairwells, hallways and landings, and out of bathrooms, porches, garages or any damp or exposed position where moisture could reach it.
How is it installed?
It is a recessed mount in the wall, so the square 75 x 16 x 75 mm body sits flush within a prepared opening rather than projecting from the surface. The 16 mm depth keeps the recess shallow, and mounting it low beside the steps directs the light down onto each tread.
What colour of light does it give?
The Erinus produces a fixed warm white at 3000K with a colour rendering of Ra 80, giving a soft, slightly golden tone that suits indoor stairs and hallways. The output is a low 15 lumens, intended as a guiding marker light rather than general room illumination.
