The Empire cushion is a square 45 x 45cm cushion built around a woven jacquard front, where a geometric block pattern is worked in soft velvet against a flatter woven ground. The design draws on twenties geometric motifs, arranging octagons and squares into a repeating grid that reads as deep navy and blush pink across the face. The velvet passages catch the light and stand slightly proud of the woven areas, so the pattern has real depth rather than a printed flatness.

At 45 x 45cm this is the standard scale for a sofa or armchair cushion, the size most soft furnishings are cut to work with, so it sits comfortably against a two or three seater and layers easily with plain cushions in a single colour.
