Description

The Duceri is a 5W LED emergency bulkhead measuring 402mm x 204mm, rated IP65 for dust-sealed and water-protected installation in corridors, stairwells, fire exits and covered outdoor zones. The fitting operates in maintained mode, meaning the LED remains on when mains power is present and switches to battery backup during power failure. A lithium battery provides 3-hour emergency runtime.

Designed for commercial, hospitality, industrial and multi-occupancy residential buildings requiring BS 5266 compliant emergency lighting, the Duceri mounts flush to walls or ceilings via a two-point fixing. The white polycarbonate diffuser and housing resist impact and UV degradation, while the IP65 rating permits installation in damp environments including car parks, plant rooms and external walkways under covered eaves where rain ingress is possible.

The 5W LED array emits daylight white light at approximately 5500K colour temperature, providing clear visibility during both normal and emergency operation. The lithium battery eliminates the high self-discharge and short lifespan issues common with older NiCd emergency batteries. The maintained operation mode means the fitting contributes to normal corridor or stairwell lighting during everyday use, then continues to operate on battery during power cuts without any switching delay.

The housing dimensions of 402mm length and 204mm width suit standard corridor and stairwell widths without dominating the wall or ceiling plane. The 71mm projection from the mounting surface is shallow enough to maintain headroom clearance in typical 2.4m-height corridors. The polycarbonate construction keeps the gross weight at 0.75kg, reducing structural load on plasterboard and lightweight ceiling grids.

What is the difference between maintained and non-maintained emergency lighting?

Maintained emergency lights stay on continuously when mains power is present and switch to battery during power failure. Non-maintained lights remain off during normal operation and only illuminate when mains power is lost. This Duceri operates in maintained mode, meaning it provides everyday corridor lighting as well as emergency backup.

What is the emergency runtime?

The lithium battery provides 3 hours of emergency operation at reduced output when mains power is lost. This meets BS 5266 requirements for most commercial escape route lighting applications.

Can it be installed outdoors?

The IP65 rating permits installation in covered outdoor locations such as car parks, covered walkways and external stairwells under eaves where direct rain contact is minimal. It is not designed for fully exposed outdoor mounting in open weather.

How is it wired?

The bulkhead requires a permanent mains connection to charge the battery and operate in maintained mode. Wiring instructions are provided in the manual linked in the Downloads section. Installation must be carried out by a qualified electrician in accordance with BS 7671 wiring regulations.
