Description

The Knightsbridge SF8900AB is a dual voltage shaver socket with separate 115V and 230V outlets rated at 20VA, housed behind an antique brass screwless faceplate. The socket carries an IP41 rating, making it suitable for bathroom installation in zones where water spray is indirect. The dual voltage configuration allows the same socket to power both UK 230V shavers and older 115V models or imported appliances.

Designed for bathroom installation at mirror height, the socket fits above washbasins in residential, hotel and leisure facilities where shaver and electric toothbrush charging is required. The screwless cover plate clips onto a separate metal sub-frame fixed to the back box, removing visible fixings from the wall surface. The built-in gasket between the faceplate and wall provides additional moisture resistance. A minimum 47mm back box depth is required for safe installation.

The antique brass finish is brushed and lightly aged to give a warm, muted metallic tone that pairs with traditional brass taps, handles and bathroom fittings. The stainless steel construction beneath the finish provides corrosion resistance in humid bathroom environments. The socket is certified to EN 61558 for shaver supply units and carries Knightsbridge's 25-year guarantee.

Frequently Asked

What does dual voltage mean?

The socket provides two separate outlets: one rated at 115V and one at 230V, both at 20VA. This allows it to power both UK 230V shavers and older or imported 115V models from the same fitting without needing a separate transformer.

What IP rating does it carry?

IP41. This means the socket is protected against solid objects larger than 1mm and against vertically dripping water when tilted up to 15 degrees. It is suitable for bathroom installation where direct water spray does not reach the socket.

What back box depth is required?

A minimum 47mm back box depth is needed. The socket requires 43.4mm recessed depth, and the cover plate adds 4.3mm projection from the wall once installed.

Is the screwless plate removable?

Yes. The antique brass cover plate clips onto a separate metal sub-frame that is fixed to the back box. The cover can be removed for redecorating or cleaning and re-clipped without re-wiring the socket.
