Description

The Dido is a 155cm LED floor lamp built around a triple-helix frame that twists from a circular gold base to the top. Three curved metal ribbons in glossy gold wrap around three vertical opal silicone diffuser strips, with integrated 45W 3000K LEDs positioned behind the diffusers to cast soft ambient light through the translucent material.

Designed for living rooms, entrance halls and open-plan spaces with ceiling heights of 2.4m or above, the Dido functions as both light source and vertical sculpture. The 22cm diameter footprint allows it to stand in a corner, next to a sofa, or flanking a fireplace without dominating floor space. The helix structure gives the lamp a sense of upward motion, making it a useful design tool for drawing the eye vertically in rooms with low-to-mid ceilings.

The glossy gold finish on the metal ribbons catches and reflects surrounding daylight, while the opal silicone diffusers soften the LED output to eliminate glare and hot spots. The combined metal and diffuser construction gives the lamp a 3.44kg weight, providing stability without needing to be anchored. The IP20 rating restricts use to dry indoor environments only. The integrated LED is non-replaceable but rated for long service life at 3000K warm white.

Is the Dido dimmable?

The integrated LED operates at 45W on a low-voltage 32.5-37V supply via an included driver. Dimmer compatibility depends on the driver model supplied — please contact us before pairing with a dimmer switch to confirm.

Can the LED be replaced when it fails?

No. The LED is integrated into the frame and diffuser assembly and is not user-replaceable. LED lifespan is typically rated at 25,000-50,000 hours depending on usage patterns, which equates to 10-20 years of typical residential use.

What ceiling height is needed?

The lamp stands 155cm tall from floor to top. It works best in rooms with ceiling heights of 2.4m or above to avoid the top of the lamp sitting too close to the ceiling. In rooms with 2.2-2.3m ceilings the lamp will still function but may feel visually compressed.

How is the lamp assembled?

The Dido ships in component form with the base, helix frame sections, diffusers and driver packed separately. Assembly instructions are included in the box and available as a PDF download above. Typical assembly time is 15-20 minutes with no tools beyond those supplied.
