Description

A small round spot, 85mm across, with the LED and its control gear built into the body. The 12W engine puts out a warm white light in a fairly tight cone, so it picks out what you aim it at rather than washing a room evenly. At 1040 lumens it will cover a worktop, a reading chair or a short stretch of hallway from a single position. It is not dimmable, so plan it on a plain switch.

We use spots like this where light needs to be pointed at something: over a kitchen island, down a corridor, above a run of shelves, into an alcove holding pictures or glass. The body is compact enough to sit quietly overhead rather than being the first thing you see, which is why we tend to suggest it in rooms where the ceiling is already busy with other fittings. It suits dry interiors only, so keep it out of bathroom zones and anywhere exposed to weather.

The housing is matt white throughout, a flat finish with no gloss to catch reflections, and the whole thing is light in the hand. Upkeep amounts to wiping dust off the housing and the face with a dry cloth while the power is off; avoid solvents, which will dull the paint. The driver is supplied with it, and there is no lamp to change later, since the LED is part of the fitting. It carries a three year warranty.
