Cavo Braided Twisted Copper Cable 3 Core 0.75mm - Dark Blue

A fabric braided flex in a deep, slightly inky blue, with the cores twisted together under the braid rather than laid flat. Three core, so it carries an earth as well as live and neutral, with 0.75mm conductors. It is VDE approved. The braid gives it a soft, dry handle and a little body, so it hangs in a clean line rather than curling. We sell it by the metre and cut to order: whatever quantity you add arrives as a single continuous length rather than separate pieces.

This is the flex we reach for when a fitting has metal parts and needs an earth, and for rewiring a well made old lamp whose original cord has gone stiff and yellow. It works for a pendant hung over a table, a flex outlet, a floor or table lamp, or any visible drop where you want the cord read as part of the design. Dark blue is quieter than a bright colour but far less anonymous than black, so it sits well against pale walls, painted timber and brass.

The braid is woven tightly over the twisted cores, and the colour runs through the weave rather than sitting on top of it. Wipe it with a dry cloth now and then; a woven surface holds dust and kitchen grease more readily than smooth PVC, and it should be kept well away from damp and never run outdoors. It carries a one year warranty. We stock the same braided finish as a two core flex in red, purple, lime green, white, black and blue, along with plain black PVC and clear versions if you would rather the cord faded into the background.

How is the cable supplied if I order several metres?

It is priced per metre and cut as one continuous piece, so ordering five gives you a single 5m length rather than five separate metres.

How thick is the finished cable?

The overall diameter is 5.3mm, with 0.75mm conductors inside, which keeps it slim enough for most flex grips while still carrying an earth.

Why choose three core over two core?

Three core includes an earth conductor, which is what earthed fittings, particularly those with exposed metal, require. Two core is intended for double insulated fittings.

Can it be used in a bathroom or outside?

No. It is rated IP20, so it belongs in dry indoor rooms and away from splashes, condensation and weather.

How do I keep the braid looking good?

Isolate the supply first, then run a dry cloth along the length. Avoid solvents and wet cloths, as they can mark or lift a woven finish.
