Cavo Braided Copper Cable 3 Core 0.75mm - Dark Blue

The outer sleeve here is a woven braid in a deep, inky blue, wrapped over three cores of 0.75mm conductor. Braid changes how a flex reads: it catches light along its length rather than showing the flat shine of moulded PVC. The blue is dark enough to read almost navy under a low lamp. Order as many metres as you need and it arrives as a single continuous run, so there is no joining involved. It is VDE approved.

We reach for braided flex on pendant sets, rise and fall fittings and standard lamps where the cable is on show as much as the shade is. It carries an earth core, which is why we choose it for metal fittings that call for one, and why the slimmer flexes elsewhere in the range stop short. Dark blue sits well against brass and aged copper, and reads quieter than black against a pale ceiling. It suits a project where the flex is part of the look rather than something to hide. Dry indoor rooms are its place; we would not run it outdoors or through damp.

The braid is tightly woven over the insulated cores, and that weave is what gives it its texture in the hand. Keep it clean by running a dry cloth along the length now and then; braid holds dust in the weave more readily than a smooth sleeve, and a stiff brush will only fluff the fibres. Solvents and polishes have no business near it. It carries a one year warranty. How is the cable supplied if I order several metres?

It is sold in 1m units and the quantity you order is supplied as one continuous length, so ordering five gives you a single 5m run rather than five separate pieces.

How thick is the finished cable?

The braided cable measures 6mm in diameter overall, with three 0.75mm cores inside the sleeve.

Why choose three core rather than two?

The third core is an earth, so this is the version to use with fittings that require earthing, typically metal ones. Where no earth is needed, the two core braids in the range are slimmer.

How do I keep the braid looking clean?

Wipe along the length with a dry cloth. Dust settles into the weave more than it does on smooth PVC, so a light wipe now and again is better than an occasional scrub. Avoid solvents, polishes and stiff brushes.

Is it suitable for a bathroom or outdoors?

No. It is rated IP20, which means dry indoor use only.

Does the colour run through the whole cable?

The dark blue is the woven outer braid; the cores beneath it carry their own standard insulation colours.
