Description

This Knightsbridge CAT6a RJ45 network outlet provides a single shuttered RJ45 connection supporting data transfer speeds up to 10Gbps at 500MHz bandwidth. The outlet uses unshielded twisted pair (UTP) termination via IDC connectors and is housed in a matt white screwless faceplate that projects 4.3mm from the wall once fitted.

Designed for residential and light commercial network installations, the outlet supports Power over Ethernet (PoE) applications including IP cameras, wireless access points, VoIP phones and smart home hubs. The CAT6a rating provides headroom beyond standard CAT6 for future network upgrades and reduces crosstalk in environments where multiple network cables run in parallel within the same wall cavity or conduit.

The screwless plate clips onto a separate metal sub-frame fixed to the back box, leaving no visible fixings on the wall surface. The matt white finish pairs with contemporary switch and socket ranges and the low projection makes the outlet suitable for tight spaces behind furniture or equipment racks. The shuttered aperture provides basic protection against dust ingress when the outlet is not in use. The 35mm minimum back box depth accommodates the IDC termination block and cable bend radius required for reliable CAT6a performance.

Frequently Asked

What cable type is required?

The outlet is designed for unshielded twisted pair (UTP) CAT6a cable. Using certified CAT6a cable ensures the full 10Gbps data transfer capability and 500MHz bandwidth. CAT6 cable will work but limits performance to CAT6 specifications.

Can it power PoE devices?

Yes. The outlet supports Power over Ethernet, allowing connected devices such as IP cameras, wireless access points and VoIP phones to receive both data and power through a single network cable, provided the network switch or injector supports PoE.

What back box depth is needed?

A minimum 35mm back box depth is required to accommodate the IDC termination block and provide adequate cable bend radius for CAT6a performance. The screwless cover plate adds 4.3mm of projection from the wall.

How are the cables terminated?

The outlet uses IDC (insulation displacement contact) termination. Individual conductor wires from the CAT6a cable are punched down into the IDC block following the T568A or T568B wiring standard, cutting through the insulation to make contact without stripping the wires.
