Casandra 8 Seater Glass Dining Table - Polished Stainless Steel Base

The Casandra is a 180cm rectangular dining table built around a 12mm tempered glass top and a polished stainless steel base formed from two interlocking loops. The glass top measures 180cm x 90cm, seating eight people comfortably with two at each short end and three along each long side. The steel base sits on a rectangular plinth plate and supports the glass from beneath, with the double-loop geometry creating negative space between the steel forms.

Designed for dining rooms with floor space of 14m² or larger, the Casandra needs approximately 2.8m x 2m of clearance (table plus chair pull-out) to allow free movement around the table when all eight seats are occupied. The transparent glass top allows the base to be seen from above, making the sculptural steel form part of the visual design rather than hidden beneath an opaque surface. The 76cm table height is standard for dining, pairing with chairs with seat heights between 45-48cm.

The polished stainless steel base is mirror-finished, reflecting light from windows and overhead fixtures back into the room. This finish shows fingerprints and requires regular polishing to maintain the high-gloss surface. The 12mm tempered glass is heat-treated for strength and carries a polished edge treatment, but it is still glass and can be scratched by abrasive contact or chip if struck at the edge. At 104.5kg total weight, the table is stable once positioned but requires two people to move safely.

What room size does the Casandra need?

The table itself is 180cm x 90cm. To allow chairs to be pulled out and people to move around the table when all eight seats are occupied, you need approximately 2.8m x 2m of floor space. This makes it suitable for dining rooms of 14m² or larger.

How is the glass maintained?

Wipe the glass with a microfibre cloth and standard glass cleaner or a mild vinegar-water solution. Avoid abrasive pads or scouring agents, which can scratch the surface. The polished steel base requires a dedicated stainless steel polish to maintain the mirror finish and remove fingerprints.

Can the table be disassembled for moving house?

The glass top lifts off the steel base. The base itself may have bolted connections depending on how Schuller ships it, but check the assembly instructions or contact us before attempting to disassemble the base structure. The 104.5kg total weight means professional furniture movers are recommended.

Is the glass heat-resistant?

The 12mm tempered glass can withstand normal dining heat from plates and serving dishes. Avoid placing very hot items (cast iron pans straight from the hob, baking trays from the oven) directly onto the glass without a trivet or mat, as sudden localised heat can stress the material.
