Description

The Canterbury is a 58cm ceramic table lamp built on a two-tone base: the lower third fired to a raw bisque stone finish, the upper two-thirds dipped in a soft sage green glaze. The lamp pairs with a 40cm diameter ivory linen coolie drum shade that tapers gently from top to bottom, diffusing light from a single E27 bulb (sold separately).

Designed for living rooms, bedrooms and hallway console tables, the Canterbury suits traditional and country-style interiors where ceramic textures and muted greens sit comfortably alongside oak, pine and cream upholstery. The 58cm height positions the shade at a practical level for reading next to a sofa or armchair, and the 120cm black cable runs to a standard UK plug with an inline rocker switch for table-level control without reaching to a wall socket.

The ceramic base weighs 3.3kg, giving the lamp stability on side tables and narrow console surfaces without needing to be anchored. What bulb does it take?

The Canterbury takes a standard E27 (Edison screw) bulb. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this lamp with a warm-white LED bulb between 6-10W and 2700K-3000K for ambient living room or bedroom lighting.

Can the shade be replaced?

Yes. The shade is a separate component that fits onto the lamp holder via a standard shade carrier. If you need a replacement shade or prefer a different style, contact us for compatible options.

Is the inline switch on the cable?

Yes. The 120cm black cable includes an inline rocker switch positioned approximately 30cm from the lamp base, allowing the lamp to be switched on and off without reaching to the wall socket. The lamp still needs to be plugged into a mains socket to operate.

Does the glaze vary between lamps?

Slight tonal variation in the soft green glaze is normal due to kiln position during firing. The demarcation line between the glazed and bisque sections may also vary by a centimetre or two between individual lamps. This is characteristic of ceramic production, not a defect.
