Description

The Calla is a 5 light cluster pendant with a 200mm matt black pressed steel ceiling plate and five separate fabric-covered flex drops, each extending up to 1.8m from the canopy. Each drop terminates in a vintage-style E27 bakelite-effect lamp holder, designed to show the bulb rather than conceal it behind a shade.

Intended for entrance halls, stairwells, double-height living spaces and kitchen islands with ceiling heights above 2.7m, the Calla allows each of the five drops to be set at different lengths during installation, creating a staggered cascade effect. The cables can be shortened by looping the slack inside the ceiling plate, so the pendant can suit ceiling heights from 2.7m to 4m without requiring additional fixings. Over a dining table or island the drops are typically set between 600-900mm above the surface, depending on the effect required.

The matt black finish on the pressed steel canopy and lamp holders absorbs light rather than reflecting it, keeping visual focus on the bulbs themselves. The vintage-style lamp holders pair well with visible-filament LED bulbs in either Edison squirrel-cage style or pear-shaped ST64 formats (sold separately). The E27 fitting accepts bulbs up to 40W per socket, supporting both warm ambient lighting with lower-wattage LEDs and brighter task lighting when required. The black fabric flex is slightly thicker than standard lighting cable, giving each drop a more defined presence when viewed from below.

The Calla takes five E27 (Edison screw) bulbs, sold separately. Each socket supports up to 40W. Most users pair this pendant with visible-filament LED bulbs in Edison squirrel-cage or ST64 pear shapes, typically 4-8W at 2200K-2700K for a warm amber glow.

Can the cable lengths be adjusted?

Yes. Each of the five fabric flex drops extends up to 1.8m from the ceiling plate. During installation the cables can be shortened by looping the excess inside the ceiling plate, allowing you to set each drop at a different length for a staggered cascade effect or all at the same height for symmetry.

Is it dimmable?

Dimmer compatibility depends on the bulbs you fit. LED filament bulbs marked as dimmable will work with most trailing-edge dimmers. Non-dimmable LED bulbs will not dim and may flicker or hum if connected to a dimmer circuit.

What ceiling height is required?

The 1.8m cable length suits ceiling heights from 2.7m upwards. For dining tables or kitchen islands the pendant typically hangs 600-900mm above the surface. In double-height spaces or stairwells the drops can be left at full extension to fill the vertical space.
