Description

Neat, round and quietly plain, this recessed light gives a soft warm wash from a single integrated LED. It draws 6W and puts out 540 lumens at 3000K, a warm white that keeps timber, brick and paintwork looking friendly rather than clinical. The trim is matt white, so it reads as part of the ceiling once the light is off, and the spread is wide, which means you can space them out without stripes and shadows tracking across the floor. There is nothing fussy about it: a plain circle of light, sitting shallow in the ceiling.

It suits the everyday jobs. A run along a hallway, general light over a kitchen floor, a set across a bedroom or a landing where you want brightness without anything hanging down at head height. Because it is not dimmable, it works from an ordinary wall switch, which suits circuits you simply want on or off, such as a utility, a cloakroom or a stair. We would use it in dry rooms and keep it clear of splash zones over a bath or basin. Where more output is wanted, the range steps up through larger diameters.

The driver is supplied with it and the fitting is double insulated. Matt white also hides marks better than a polished face. For cleaning, wait until it is cold, then run a dry microfibre cloth over the trim and the lens; skip sprays and solvents, which can cloud a diffuser and mark paintwork. It carries a three year warranty. We also stock the same size in a cooler white, along with wider versions for bigger rooms, so a hallway, a kitchen and a landing can all be done in one look with the smaller and larger sizes mixed as the room needs. The LED is built in, so there is nothing to replace.

It is made for a 95mm cut-out. The visible face measures 105mm across, so the trim covers the edge of the hole, and the body is 35mm deep.

Can I put it on a dimmer?

No. This version is non-dimmable and should be switched on and off in the normal way. Fitting it to a dimmer circuit can cause flicker and shorten its life.

Can the LED be changed when it eventually fails?

The LED is integrated rather than a replaceable lamp, so the fitting is renewed as a whole. It is rated at 25,000 hours.
