Description

A round recessed light in matt white, this is the mid size in the Cabrera range and it is deliberately plain: a flat bezel, a shallow body, and nothing on show but a clean white ring against the ceiling. The light source is an integrated LED running at 12W, tuned to a neutral 4000K white that reads clean and bright rather than cosy. The driver comes with it. It is not dimmable, so a standard switch is all it needs.

We reach for this size where a room needs solid working light without much hardware on show: kitchens, utility rooms, hallways, landings and home offices. At 1080 lumens apiece they cover ground quickly, and the wide spread means a run of them washes across a ceiling rather than dropping hard pools on the floor. The neutral tone is the one we suggest for worktops, sinks, stairs and wardrobes, anywhere you want to see properly; for a sitting room or bedroom, we would point you at the warm white version instead. Keep it to dry rooms, away from shower zones.

Matt white runs across the bezel and the body, so a white ceiling takes it in without a bright edge catching the eye. Dust the trim with a soft cloth and, if cooking grease has settled, a barely damp cloth with a little washing up liquid will lift it, power off and the fitting cool first. Solvents and cream cleaners will scuff a matt paint finish, so leave those alone. It carries a three year warranty. The LED is built in, so there is nothing to replace over its life. The same round shape is offered in smaller and larger sizes, each in matt white and each in warm as well as neutral white.
