Description

This Knightsbridge BT telephone extension socket provides a secondary connection point for landline phones when wired back to a master socket. The socket features a white thermoset resin faceplate with a gently rounded edge profile, screw terminals for permanent wiring, and an anti-microbial finish tested to ISO 22196:2011.

Designed for domestic and small office installations, the socket handles standard BT plug connections and fits a 25mm minimum back box depth. The rounded edge profile sits flush to the wall with a 7mm projection from the mounting surface, giving a softer appearance than square-edged plates in residential settings. Screw cap covers are included to conceal the fixing screws once the socket is installed.

The white finish is moulded through the thermoset resin rather than surface-applied, so scuffs and marks are less visible over time than on painted surfaces. The anti-microbial properties reduce bacterial growth on high-contact surfaces, a feature carried across Knightsbridge's residential socket range. The IDC (insulation displacement connector) terminals accept solid-core telephone cable without stripping, speeding up installation.

Frequently Asked

What's the difference between an extension and a master socket?

A master socket connects directly to the incoming telephone line from the street and includes filtering for broadband services. Extension sockets like this one connect back to the master socket via internal cabling and provide additional connection points around the property. Extension sockets do not filter broadband signals.

What back box depth is required?

A 25mm minimum back box depth is needed. The socket projects 7mm from the wall once installed, with 13.7mm recessed into the back box.

Can this socket be used for broadband?

No. Broadband signals should be connected at the master socket. Using extension sockets for broadband can introduce signal degradation and reduce connection speeds. This socket is for landline telephone connections only.

What does the anti-microbial finish do?

The anti-microbial treatment reduces bacterial growth on the faceplate surface. This is tested to ISO 22196:2011 and is a standard feature across Knightsbridge's residential socket range, designed to reduce contamination on frequently-touched surfaces.
