Description

The Beaumont is a 162cm floor lamp built on a slender antique brass stem with a circular 40cm diameter base and a cylindrical shade constructed from vertical glass rods encased in an antique brass frame. The glass rods are arranged side-by-side in a continuous ring, each rod catching and refracting light from the two E27 bulbs housed inside the shade. The hand-finished antique brass has a warm, slightly tarnished tone characteristic of aged brass.

Designed for living rooms, dining rooms and bedroom corners where ambient and decorative lighting is wanted, the Beaumont provides indirect light through the vertical glass rods rather than downward task light. The 162cm height positions the shade at approximately 1.5m from the floor, placing it above most seated eye-lines but below standing head height in typical UK residential ceiling heights of 2.4m. The 40cm base diameter gives stability on carpet and hard floors without requiring a large footprint.

The vertical glass rod construction takes influence from Art Deco lighting design, where geometric repetition and linear glass elements were common. Each glass rod is cut to the same length and held in place by the upper and lower brass rings of the shade frame, creating a drum-shaped diffuser approximately 40cm in diameter and 30cm in height. The combined glass and metal construction gives the lamp a substantial 15.4kg weight. The lamp requires two E27 bulbs (sold separately) and carries an IP20 rating, restricting it to dry interior use only.
