Description

A single E27 pendant with an antique brass suspension and a dual faux silk shade, 40cm across, in antique gold with a ruby lining that warms the light as it passes through. A frosted acrylic diffuser with an antique brass rim closes off the underside, so the lamp is screened when you sit beneath it. The proportions are generous without being heavy, and the shade reads as a broad, shallow drum.

We reach for this one over a dining table, or in a hallway where a plain shade would look underdressed. The drop is adjustable, which makes it as workable under a low bedroom ceiling as it is over a landing or a stairwell. It takes a lamp up to 20W, and we would choose a warm white LED GLS, which sits well behind the frosted diffuser. With a suitable lamp and a matching dimmer the level can be taken down for the evening. It suits a room where you want a little colour in the fitting rather than pattern.

The metalwork wears an antique brass finish, softly aged rather than bright, and the acrylic diffuser is light in the hand. For the shade, a soft brush or the upholstery head on a vacuum keeps the faux silk looking fresh; the diffuser wants no more than a barely damp cloth, once the power is off at the wall and the lamp has gone cold. Keep it to dry indoor rooms, away from bathrooms and porches. It carries a one year warranty.
