Description

Black faux silk covers the drum shade, and a white laminate lining inside throws the light back down rather than soaking it up. The frame above is polished chrome, bright and plain, and the drop adjusts, so the shade can sit close under a low ceiling or hang from as high as 3.3m in a stairwell. It measures 40cm across, with a single E27 lampholder inside. Nothing about it is fussy.

It suits a dining table, a kitchen island or a hallway, anywhere you want a soft pool of light rather than a wash across the whole room. We would fit an LED GLS lamp of up to 20W here, and where you want the level to come down over supper, it will dim with a matched lamp and dimmer. We stock plenty of E27 lamps to go with it, and a warmer white will flatter the black fabric. The long drop makes it useful in tall rooms and over stairs, and it shortens back for standard ceilings.

Faux silk gives the shade its soft face, and the chrome is polished to a mirror finish that picks up whatever daylight the room has. Dust it with a dry cloth or a soft brush, and take fingerprints off the metal with a barely damp cloth, drying straight after; sprays and cleaners do the fabric no favours. It carries a one year warranty. Bedrooms, sitting rooms and landings are its ground, not bathroom zones or anywhere exposed to weather. The wider range runs through antique brass, satin nickel, white and satin black as well as chrome, in semi-flush fittings and linear pendants, so a whole house can stay in the same family.
