Description

Three shades sit in a row along a slim polished chrome bar, each wrapped in a silver foil finish that catches the light with a soft metallic sheen. The shades measure 30cm across, broad enough to read as a proper set of drums rather than small accents. Each one takes an E27 lamp, and with suitable lamps and a compatible dimmer the output can be brought down for the evening.

A linear fitting like this wants a long surface beneath it: a dining table, a kitchen island, a run of worktop. We reach for it where one central pendant would leave the ends of a table dim, and it earns its keep in a room used for both eating and working. Set high, it reads as a quiet line of light; set lower, the shades frame the table more firmly. Kitchens with chrome taps and handles take to the polished metalwork easily, and it is just as comfortable in an open-plan space where the table is the fixed point everything else works around.

The bar and its stems are metal, finished in polished chrome, while the shades are foil-faced and backed with white laminate, which keeps the light clean as it falls. A dry microfibre cloth is all the chrome asks for, and dust lifts off the shades with a soft brush used lightly. Wired for indoor rooms on a standard household supply, it belongs anywhere dry rather than in a bathroom or a porch. It carries a one year warranty. The silver leaf shade appears again on flush fittings in the Baymont range, in polished chrome and in white, if you want adjoining rooms to agree with one another. Lamps are not included.

How low will it hang?

The drop adjusts from 405mm at its shortest to 3125mm at its longest, with 3m of flex supplied, so it can sit close to a low ceiling or drop well down over a table.

How long is the bar?

The suspension bar runs 1190mm end to end, with the shades spaced along it. Each shade is 300mm wide and 170mm deep.

Which lamps should I use?

It takes three E27 lamps, and LED GLS A60 lamps are the recommendation, up to 20W each. Lamps are supplied separately.

Can it be dimmed?
