Baymont 3 Light Faux Silk Pendant Light 40cm Grey - Satin Nickel

Three lamps sit behind a grey and white laminate faux silk drum, with a frosted acrylic diffuser and satin nickel trim closing the underside so nothing glares down at eye level. The shade measures 40cm across, wide enough to read as a proper light over a table without looking lost. The metalwork is satin nickel, a soft brushed silver that sits quietly against pale walls and picks up cool greys well. We like it for rooms that need real light from a single ceiling point rather than a scatter of small fittings.

It earns its place over a dining table, a kitchen island or in a hallway where a smaller pendant would look mean. The drop adjusts across a generous span, from a shallow hang tight to the ceiling out to more than three metres, so it works in a stairwell or a room with tall ceilings as well as in an ordinary sitting room. The E27 sockets take LED GLS lamps, which is what we would fit here, and the fitting will dim if you pair dimmable lamps with a suitable dimmer.

The frame and trim are metal in satin nickel, the shade a grey and white faux silk laminate, and the diffuser moulded acrylic with a frosted face. Keep the fabric fresh with a soft brush or the upholstery head of a vacuum on low suction, and give the acrylic an occasional wipe with a barely damp cloth, power off and cool first; solvents and sprays will dull it. It carries a one year warranty. What lamps does it need?

Three E27 lamps, up to 20W each. LED GLS A60 lamps are the recommended choice and give the most even fill behind the shade. Lamps are not supplied.

How low can it hang, and how high can it be set?

The drop runs from 390mm at its shortest to 3310mm at full extension, with a body height of 355mm, so it can be set close to the ceiling or taken down over a table or stairwell.

What size is the shade?

The faux silk drum is 400mm in diameter and 180mm deep, which reads as a medium pendant in most rooms.

Can it be dimmed?

Yes, provided you use dimmable lamps with a compatible dimmer. No dimmer is supplied with the fitting.

How do I clean the shade and the diffuser?

Dust the faux silk with a soft brush or a vacuum on low suction. The frosted acrylic can be wiped with a barely damp cloth once the power is off and the fitting is cool; avoid solvents, polishes and aerosol cleaners.

Is it suitable for a bathroom?

No. It is rated IP20 and belongs in dry rooms such as dining rooms, kitchens, hallways and bedrooms.
