Description

Three E27 lampholders sit behind one broad drum shade of black faux silk, 40cm across, lined in white laminate so light is pushed down and forward rather than soaked up by the dark outer face. The suspension, ceiling plate and shade ring wear a satin nickel finish, a soft grey sheen that keeps its distance from the shade instead of competing with it. Beneath, a frosted acrylic diffuser with a matching satin nickel rim closes off the underside and softens what would otherwise be direct glare from the lamps.

With three lampholders working together behind a single shade, this gives far more light than a one lamp pendant of the same width, which makes it a sensible choice over a dining table, in a wide hallway, or as the main fitting in a sitting room with a reasonable ceiling height. We reach for it where a room needs one generous light source rather than several small ones. Each lamp takes up to 20W, and we would fit LED GLS lamps in a warm white; dimming is possible with dimmable lamps and a compatible dimmer.

The shade is fabric over a laminate liner, so keep it dry: a light going over with a soft brush or the upholstery tool on a vacuum lifts dust without dragging the silk. The acrylic diffuser can be wiped clear of marks with a barely damp cloth once the fitting is cold, and the satin nickel metalwork needs nothing more than a dry buff. It carries a one year warranty. The wider Baymont range gives you plenty of company for it, including satin nickel linear pendants for longer tables and small semi flush fixtures in satin black, antique brass, polished chrome and white for landings and box rooms.
