Description

Gold leaf and antique brass together make for a warm, gently aged sort of light. Three E27 lamps sit within a shade 40cm across, faced in gold leaf and lined in white laminate, so the inner surface sends a clean light down while the outside keeps a soft glow of its own. The suspension shortens and lengthens over a generous span, which means it can hang low above a long table or be drawn up close for a room with less height to give away. We would fit LED GLS lamps here, up to 20W apiece.

It suits rooms where a single fitting has to cover a fair stretch of floor: over a dining table, along a kitchen island, or down the centre of a wide landing. Set the drop short and it also answers where anything lower would be in the way of heads and cupboard doors. Kitchens, dining rooms, sitting rooms and hallways all suit it, provided the room stays dry; steamy bathrooms and covered porches do not.

The metalwork is finished in antique brass, and the shade carries its gold leaf over a white laminate lining. A dry cloth run over the brass keeps it looking right, and where fingerprints show, a barely damp cloth followed by a dry one will lift them; keep sprays and polishes away from the leaf, which marks easily. Cut the power at the switch and let a lamp cool before you swap it. It will dim, given dimmable lamps and a compatible dimmer, though neither comes with it. It carries a one year warranty. Baymont runs through flush fittings as well, in white and polished chrome, with faux silk and silver leaf shades if gold is not the direction you want. Lamps are not included.
