Three E27 lamps do the work, and the drop adjusts across a generous span, letting the fitting sit close under the ceiling or fall properly low over furniture. Dimming is possible where the lamps and the dimmer are chosen to match.

This is one we reach for over a dining table, a long kitchen island or a hallway console, anywhere the light wants to sit low and pool downward. The linear form follows the shape of the furniture beneath it, which is why it reads better over a rectangular table than a square room. We would fit LED GLS lamps, up to 20W each, which gives plenty of light for eating and talking without much heat gathering inside the shade. It belongs in dry rooms indoors, so keep it clear of bathrooms, porches and anywhere steam or weather can reach.

The frame is metal in an antique brass finish, and the shade is a gold leaf outer over a white laminate inner, a combination that catches light at the edges without glaring. For upkeep, wipe the brass with a dry cloth and go gently over the shade with a soft brush; avoid sprays and polishes, which mark leaf finishes. It carries a one year warranty. The wider Baymont range extends to flush fittings and a chrome version with a silver leaf shade, so a hall or landing can be matched to the room the pendant hangs in. Lamps are not included.

How low will it hang?

The drop is adjustable from 415mm at its shortest to 2225mm at full extension, so it can sit tight to the ceiling or hang well down over a table.

How long is the fitting?

It measures 1290mm along its length and 400mm across, with the shade standing 18cm deep.

Which lamps should I use?

Three E27 lamps are needed, with LED GLS (A60) recommended, rated no higher than 20W each. Lamps are not supplied.

Can I put it on a dimmer?

Yes, provided you use dimmable lamps together with a compatible dimmer. No dimmer is supplied with the fitting.

What is the shade made of?

A gold leaf outer with a white laminate lining. Dust it with a soft brush or dry cloth only, as cleaning fluids can lift leaf finishes.

Is it suitable for a bathroom?

No. It is rated IP20 for dry indoor rooms, so a bathroom, utility area with heavy steam or any outdoor position is not suitable.
