Description

Three lamps sit behind one 40cm faux silk drum here, the outer face black and the lining a white laminate that pushes light back down instead of soaking it up. A frosted acrylic diffuser closes the underside, so the lamps stay hidden and what reaches the room is soft and even. The suspension, ceiling plate and lamp holders are antique brass, warm and gently aged against the dark shade. There is a good length of cable, so a tall room is well within its reach.

We reach for this where a dining table needs one broad pool of light rather than a row of small ones, and it works just as well over a hall table or in a bedroom with a bit of height to play with. Because all three lamps share a single shade, the output is generous without being harsh. It runs on a standard domestic supply for dry rooms indoors, so living spaces and landings yes, shower rooms and porches no. Fit dimmable lamps and pair them with a compatible dimmer and the level comes down nicely for evenings.

The shade is fabric over a laminate lining, the diffuser acrylic, and the metalwork carries the antique brass finish throughout. Keep the fabric fresh with a soft brush or the upholstery tool on a vacuum, and give the diffuser an occasional wipe with a barely damp cloth once the power is off and everything has cooled. It carries a one year warranty. The wider Baymont range runs to linear pendants and small semi flush fittings, several of them in the same antique brass, if you want the hallway and the dining room to agree with each other.
