Description

A shallow drum shade in ivory pearl faux silk sits above five satin nickel arms, each carrying a small E14 candle lampholder. The shade is lined in white laminate, which throws the light back down cleanly, and the fabric reads soft cream by day. At 60cm across it is a broad fitting of modest depth, spreading light widely rather than pooling it in one spot. The proportions are calm rather than showy, and the arms give the underside of the shade something to look at.

We reach for this where a wide area wants gentle light rather than one bright point: above a long dining table, in a sitting room, or in a hall with height to spare. It suits rooms where a smaller pendant would simply look lost. The chain lets you set the drop to suit the ceiling, from fairly close up to a good deal lower over a table. Dimming is possible provided you fit dimmable lamps and a matching dimmer switch, neither of which comes with the fitting.

The arms and body are metal, finished in satin nickel, a soft brushed silver that sits happily with chrome or steel elsewhere in the room. Keep the faux silk dry: lift dust with a soft brush or a light pass of a vacuum upholstery tool, and give the nickel nothing more than a dry cloth. Damp cloths and sprays will mark the fabric, so keep them well away from it. It is made for dry rooms indoors, clear of bathroom splash. It carries a one year warranty. Lamps are not included; we would put LED candle lamps in each holder and keep them all to the same colour temperature.
