Description

A wide, shallow drum of grey faux silk hangs from a satin nickel frame, with slim arms spreading out beneath it to carry five candle lamps. At 60cm across it gives a broad, even wash of light rather than a tight cluster of bright points, and the shallow shade keeps the fitting looking light for its width. The chain suspension can be shortened or let out, so the drop sits where the room wants it.

We reach for something like this over a dining table, a kitchen island or in a hallway wide enough to take its span, where a narrow pendant would look mean. It is one we would choose where a table needs covering without much drop. It works well in a bedroom too, hung centrally, since the fabric shade softens the light coming down. Candle lamps are the ones to fit, and if you want the level to come down in the evening, choose dimmable lamps and a compatible dimmer on the circuit. Grey and satin nickel sit quietly against white, off-white or pale painted walls.

The frame is metal in a satin nickel finish, warm enough to avoid the coldness of chrome, and the shade is faux silk in grey over a white laminate inner that bounces the light back down.
