Description

Three slim arms curve up from a central stem, each finished in champagne gold and each fitted with a small E14 candle lampholder. Above them sits a wide organza drum in black, 45cm across, which filters the light through the weave so it arrives soft and a little veiled rather than sharp. Where the fabric is thinnest the gold beneath glows through, which is much of the appeal. It hangs from a suspension that can be shortened or let down to suit the room.

We reach for this one over dining tables and in hallways where a plain glass pendant would feel too bare, and it works well low over a round table where the shade width matches the top. It suits bedrooms too, since the fabric takes the glare off candle lamps. Wire it to a dimmer if you like a lower setting in the evening; dimmable lamps are needed for that, and the switch itself is bought separately. Each lamp takes up to 20W, and LED candles keep the running cost down.

The shade is organza stretched over a drum, so treat it gently: a soft brush or the upholstery tool on a vacuum, held slightly away from the fabric, lifts dust without pulling the weave. The metalwork wants nothing more than a dry wipe along the arms, with the power off first. It carries a one year warranty. Black and champagne gold is the only pairing we stock it in, and it is a pairing that sits happily with dark timber, brass tapware and warm neutral walls. If you are hanging more than one along a run, keep the drops matched by eye from the doorway rather than by tape measure. Lamps are not included.

The drop is adjustable from 340mm to 1800mm, so it can sit close under a low ceiling or drop well down over a table in a tall room. The body of the fitting itself is 220mm high.

Can it be dimmed?
