Description

The Aviary Cushion is a 50 x 50cm square in 100% cotton velvet, printed on both sides with a design of garden birds perched and nesting amongst flowering foliage. The ground is a deep teal green, and across it run trailing stems carrying pink blooms, yellow and cream flowers, and small brightly coloured birds. Cotton velvet has a short, dense pile that catches the light and gives colour real depth, which is why a print like this reads so vividly against the dark ground rather than sitting flat on the surface.

At 50cm square this is a standard scatter-cushion size, which makes it easy to plan around: it sits comfortably at either end of a three-seater sofa, works in a pair against the arms, or drops onto an armchair or the head of a bed. The palette gives you two ways to use it. Set against neutral linens and pale walls it becomes the colour in the room; placed with other greens and pinks it settles into a busier, layered scheme. The print carries equally well in a contemporary room and a more traditional one.
