The Assisi is a modern occasional chair that comes down to two shapes: a round drum for the seat and a cylindrical backrest set across the back of it. There are no arms and no visible legs, so the whole chair reads as one rounded form, covered in white boucle with a close, nubbly texture. It measures 66cm wide, 68cm deep and 63cm high to the top of the backrest, with the seat 42cm from the floor. The backrest rises just 21cm above the seat, so it meets the lower back rather than the shoulders.

This boucle chair suits a quiet corner of a living room or bedroom, a wide landing, or the end of a hallway where somewhere to sit and pull on boots would earn its keep. The room photograph shows it against a wall between a floor lamp and a basket of magazines, which is how we would use it: a place to perch with a book rather than a chair to sink into. With no arms in the way, you can sit down from the front or either side.
