Description

The Knightsbridge ASHA is an 8W LED downlight with a 3-way CCT switch allowing on-site selection between 3000K warm white, 4000K natural white, and 5700K cool daylight. The integrated SMD LED delivers 750-810 lumens depending on the selected colour temperature, behind an opal polycarbonate diffuser that spreads light evenly across a 100-degree beam angle. The downlight carries an IP54 rating from below, making it suitable for bathrooms, utility rooms, and other damp environments.

Designed for shallow ceiling voids, the ASHA requires only 86mm clearance above the ceiling and recesses just 36mm into the void, with a 90mm cut-out diameter. The white polycarbonate trim ring sits flush with the ceiling surface and measures 110mm across. The downlight fits standard UK 230V mains and uses a constant-current driver housed in the fitting body, with plug-and-play connectors for quicker installation. It is compatible with the Knightsbridge EMKIT2L emergency lighting module for non-maintained emergency operation.

The polycarbonate and aluminium construction keeps the weight low while the Class II insulation removes the need for an earth connection. The non-dimmable LED is rated for 45,000 hours at L70B50 (the point at which 50% of a sample will have degraded to 70% of initial output), which translates to approximately 15 years of continuous use. The ASHA comes with a 3-year manufacturer warranty and carries an E energy rating under the 2021 Single Lighting Regulation.

How is the colour temperature changed?

A 3-way switch on the driver housing allows you to select 3000K, 4000K or 5700K before final installation. The switch is accessed from above the ceiling, so the CCT must be set during fitting. It cannot be changed once the ceiling is closed.

What ceiling void depth is required?

The ASHA needs a minimum 86mm clearance above the ceiling. The fitting itself recesses 36mm into the void, with the remaining space accommodating the driver housing and wiring connections.

Can it be used in bathrooms?

Yes. The IP54 rating from below protects against water splashes and makes the ASHA suitable for bathroom zones 1 and 2 (outside the shower enclosure itself). The IP20 rating from above means moisture must not enter the ceiling void.

Is it dimmable?

No. The ASHA uses a non-dimmable constant-current driver. Installing it on a dimmer circuit may cause flickering or damage to the driver.
