Description

The Knightsbridge ASHA is a 20W LED downlight with on-site switchable colour temperature between 3000K warm white, 4000K neutral white and 5700K daylight. A built-in switch on the rear of the fitting allows installers to select the light temperature before connection to mains power, fixing the output at that temperature for the life of the installation. The downlight delivers between 2215lm and 2385lm depending on the selected temperature, from a 190mm white polycarbonate and aluminium body that recess-mounts into a 165mm ceiling cut-out.

Designed for commercial, retail, hospitality and industrial interiors where a single fitting type needs to serve different areas, the ASHA suits offices needing 4000K task lighting, retail spaces wanting 3000K ambient warmth, or technical environments requiring 5700K daylight simulation. The IP54 front face protects against dust ingress and water splashes, making the fitting suitable for kitchens, bathrooms, covered outdoor walkways and light industrial zones. The rear is rated IP20 and requires installation into a dry ceiling void with a minimum 96mm clearance above the fitting.

The opal diffuser spreads light across a 100° beam angle, providing general area coverage rather than focused spotlighting. The fitting operates on 230V mains without an external driver — the constant-current driver is integrated into the rear of the body. Class II double-insulated construction means no earth connection is required during installation. The ASHA is compatible with Knightsbridge's EMKIT2L emergency conversion kit (sold separately), allowing it to function as emergency lighting in safety-critical installations. Plug-and-play mains connection speeds installation across multi-unit projects.

How is the colour temperature changed?

A switch on the rear of the fitting allows selection between 3000K, 4000K and 5700K before the fitting is connected to mains power. Once set and powered on, the colour temperature is fixed and cannot be adjusted without disconnecting power and physically accessing the switch again.

Is the ASHA dimmable?

No. The integrated constant-current driver does not support dimming. The light output is fixed at 20W and the selected colour temperature cannot be adjusted once the fitting is powered.

What ceiling void depth is required?

A minimum 96mm clearance is required above the ceiling surface to accommodate the rear of the fitting and allow heat dissipation. The recessed depth of the fitting body is 46mm, plus additional clearance for the driver and wiring terminals.

Can the ASHA be used in bathrooms?

Yes. The IP54 front face protects against moisture and water splashes, making it suitable for bathroom zones 1 and 2 subject to UK wiring regulations. The rear is rated IP20 and must be installed into a dry ceiling void, not directly exposed to moisture from above.
