The Arrochar cushion carries a woven tartan check in soft orange, sandy taupe and off-white, edged all the way round with a self-fringed trim in the same yarns. It measures 50x50cm, a generous square that holds its shape well against the back of a sofa or an outdoor chair. The cover is a cotton and linen blend, made up of 97% cotton with 3% linen, and it is finished with a water-resistant coating so it is built for use beyond the living room. The check is the same on both sides, so there is no wrong way to plump it.

This is an outdoor cushion, and that is where it earns its keep: on a garden bench, a terrace seat or a conservatory chair where a soft furnishing needs to cope with damp air and the odd shower. The warm orange and neutral palette sits happily with rattan, painted timber and stone, and works just as well brought indoors for a kitchen window seat or a reading chair.
