Description
The Aria cushion is a 50 x 50cm square in a soft teal velvet, carrying a single large dragonfly worked in beadwork across the face. The insect is picked out in ambers, golds, cream and soft rust, its long body and open wings set on the diagonal so the piece has real movement to it. The velvet ground is a deep sea green with a plush, light-catching pile, and the design has enough presence to hold a sofa or a bed on its own.
A cushion this size is the anchor of a scatter rather than a filler. It sits well at the corner of a larger sofa, propped against the arm, or centred on a bed dressed with plainer cushions in front. The teal reads as a grounding colour that takes warm neutrals, ambers and creams alongside it comfortably, which is exactly the palette the beadwork already uses. If you like a considered, gathered look rather than a matched set, this is the piece you build the rest around.
The cover is velvet front and back, closed with a zip so the inner lifts out for cleaning and the cover can be refreshed between seasons. The inner is filled with duck feathers, which give a soft, obliging fill that you can plump back into shape and that settles naturally against the body of a seat. The beaded design is the focal point, so we would keep the cushions around it quiet and let this one lead. Made in the UK.

Frequently Asked
What is the cushion made of?
The cover is polyester velvet on both the front and the back, with a plush pile that catches the light and feels soft to the touch.
Can I remove the cover to clean it?
Yes. There is a zip closure, so you can lift out the feather inner and deal with the cover separately, or adjust the filling as you like.
What is inside the cushion?
It is filled with duck feathers, which give a soft, comfortable fill that plumps back into shape and settles well against a seat or headboard.
How big is it and where does it work best?
It measures 50 x 50cm, a generous square that sits well as the lead cushion on a sofa or centred on a dressed bed.
Is the dragonfly design embroidered or beaded?
The dragonfly is worked in beadwork across the velvet face, picked out in ambers, golds and creams for a design with real depth and texture.
