Description

The Amanita door stop is a printed velvet weight covered in a hand-drawn world of mushrooms and toadstools. Against a deep forest-green ground, clusters of pink, coral, gold, blue and rust fungi rise in every direction, from tiny pink caps huddled at the base to a bold red-and-white bloom at the centre. It is a single size, roughly a soft upright block that stands taller than it is wide, with a matching velvet storage handle sewn to the top so you can lift and reposition it in one hand.

A door stop earns its place by staying put, and this one is built to do exactly that. It suits a bedroom, living room, study or hallway, anywhere a door swings shut on its own or drifts in a draught. The green base sits happily against wood, painted walls and houseplants, and the busy botanical print gives a plain room something to look at without asking for a particular scheme. It works as well holding a wardrobe open as it does propping the door to a child's room.

The cover is polyester velvet, soft to the touch and hard-wearing, printed all over with the fungi design and finished with the same velvet on the reverse. Inside, a polyester and sand fill gives it the heft a working door stop needs, which is why it holds a heavier door where a lighter one would slide. The looped handle up top doubles as somewhere to hang it out of the way.
