The chandelier weighs 10.5kg and hangs on an adjustable chain, with a minimum drop of 850mm and maximum drop of 1260mm from ceiling to base.

Designed for large dining rooms, entrance halls with double-height ceilings, and open-plan living areas where a strong central light fitting is needed, the Akira provides both ambient and decorative illumination. The two-tier arrangement spreads light vertically across approximately 1m of drop, which helps fill tall rooms without creating a single harsh light source at one height. The cream shades diffuse the light from each bulb outward and downward, while the crystal cups add refraction and sparkle when the chandelier is lit. The chandelier requires twelve E14 bulbs sold separately, and is dimmable when paired with dimmable bulbs and a compatible dimmer switch.

The antique brass finish gives the metal frame a darker, more oxidised tone than polished or brushed brass, with subtle variation across the surface that reads as aged metal rather than bright new metalwork. This makes the Akira compatible with traditional interiors, classical dining rooms, and period properties where a brighter brass would look out of place, but it also pairs well with contemporary spaces that use warm metallics and layered textures. The square-section arms are heavier in visual weight than round tube construction, giving the chandelier an architectural presence rather than a delicate or ornamental one. The crystal cups are individually formed glass rather than cut crystal, so they catch light without the sharp facets of leaded crystal, and the cream fabric shades are stretched over wire frames with visible seams at the corners — both details consistent with mid-range decorative lighting rather than bespoke or heritage-grade fittings.

What ceiling height is needed for the Akira?

The minimum drop of 850mm plus the 900mm diameter means ceiling heights of 2.7m or above work best. In dining rooms the chandelier typically hangs 750-850mm above the table surface, so a 2.4m ceiling can accommodate it if the maximum drop is used and the table is standard height, but taller ceilings give more flexibility.

What bulbs does it take?

The Akira takes twelve E14 small Edison screw bulbs, sold separately. Most users pair it with 4-6W LED candle bulbs in warm white (2700K-3000K) for a combined output of 48-72W equivalent. The chandelier is dimmable when used with dimmable E14 bulbs and a compatible trailing-edge dimmer.

How is the drop adjusted?

The chain can be shortened during installation by removing links and looping excess chain inside the ceiling canopy. The cable runs through the chain and can be trimmed to match. Adjusting the drop after installation requires re-accessing the ceiling rose.

Can the shades be replaced or cleaned?

The cream fabric shades are removable for cleaning. Wipe gently with a dry microfibre cloth or use a soft brush attachment on a vacuum cleaner set to low suction. The shades cannot be machine-washed. Replacement shades are not sold separately by Mantra but generic E14 clip-on shades in similar dimensions may fit if replacements are needed.
