Description
The Akira is a 2 light wall lamp built on a polished chrome backplate with two curved arms, each supporting a square black fabric shade and a sculpted glass backplate. The glass backplates sit behind the fabric shades and catch light from the E14 bulbs (sold separately), adding a layer of reflective texture to the fixture. The polished chrome arms curve outward in a V-shape from the central wall mount, giving the lamp a 290mm overall width and 170mm projection from the wall.
Designed for living rooms, bedrooms and hallways where ambient or accent lighting is needed without a ceiling fitting, the Akira works in pairs flanking a bed or sofa, or as a single fitting to light an alcove or chimney breast. The two-arm configuration balances light output across a wider wall area than a single-bulb fitting, reducing hard shadows and giving more even coverage. The lamp is dimmable when paired with dimmable E14 LED or halogen bulbs, allowing output to be adjusted from bright evening illumination down to low-level background light.
The polished chrome finish reflects ambient daylight and room lighting, giving the metal a bright, mirror-like surface that pairs cleanly with monochrome, industrial and contemporary interiors. The black fabric shades provide a high-contrast edge and prevent direct bulb glare, directing light upward and downward rather than into the room at eye level. The glass backplates are hand-formed, so each piece shows slight variation in the sculpted surface texture and the way light refracts through the glass when the bulbs are lit.

Frequently Asked
What bulbs does the Akira take?
The lamp takes two E14 small Edison screw bulbs, sold separately. Most users pair this with warm-white LED candle bulbs between 4-6W and 2700K-3000K for ambient lighting. The maximum wattage depends on the bulb type — check the bulb packaging to confirm it's rated for enclosed fabric shade use.
Is the Akira dimmable?
Yes, when paired with dimmable E14 bulbs and a compatible wall dimmer switch. The lamp itself has no built-in dimmer — dimming happens at the switch controlling the circuit the lamp is wired into.
How is it fitted to the wall?
The Akira mounts on a standard UK lighting circuit via a backplate that fixes to the wall with screws. The backplate is 370mm tall and covers the cable entry point. The fitting requires a qualified electrician to install and must be connected to a switched lighting circuit, not a socket circuit.
Can the shades be replaced or cleaned?
The black fabric shades are removable for cleaning. Dust them with a soft brush or lint roller. For deeper cleaning, check the care label inside each shade — some fabrics tolerate gentle spot-cleaning with a barely-damp cloth, but avoid soaking the fabric or using household sprays.
