Description

The Akira is a 2-light wall lamp built around a V-shaped antique brass frame that supports two angled arms, each topped with a square cream fabric shade over an E14 bulb fitting. Between the brass arm and shade sits a sculpted clear glass element that acts as both visual detail and backplate, replacing the typical flat disc with a more three-dimensional form.

Designed for bedroom, hallway and living room installation where paired wall lighting adds symmetry and controlled light distribution, the Akira mounts flush to the wall via a square brass backplate and projects 170mm from the surface. The cream shades soften the light output, making the fitting suitable for bedside positions, flanking a fireplace or artwork, or either side of a hallway mirror. The dimmable capability (when fitted with dimmable E14 bulbs) allows the light level to be adjusted between reading-task brightness and low ambient glow.

The antique brass finish has a subdued tone that sits between polished brass and aged bronze, pairing well with warm-toned woods, terracotta, ochre and neutral wall colours. The square profile of the shades and the geometric brass frame give the fitting a structured, architectural quality that works in both traditional and transitional interiors. Each shade measures approximately 140mm square, and the overall width of the fitting is 290mm, making it proportionate for walls above single beds, console tables and narrower hallway runs.

The sculpted glass elements are fixed to the brass arms and do not require separate cleaning beyond periodic dusting. The cream fabric shades can be removed for spot-cleaning if needed. At 1.6kg the fitting is suitable for plasterboard walls with appropriate fixings or direct mounting to masonry or timber stud.

The Akira takes two E14 (small Edison screw) bulbs, sold separately. Most users pair this with warm-white LED candle bulbs between 4-6W and 2700K-3000K for a soft bedroom or hallway glow.

Is it dimmable?

Yes, when fitted with dimmable E14 bulbs and wired to a compatible dimmer switch. The fitting itself supports dimming but requires dimmable bulbs to function.

Can the shades be cleaned?

The cream fabric shades can be removed for spot-cleaning with a barely-damp cloth. Avoid soaking the fabric. For routine maintenance, use a soft brush attachment on a vacuum cleaner to remove dust.

What wall fixing is needed?

At 1.6kg the fitting is suitable for plasterboard walls with appropriate cavity fixings (spring toggles or metal plasterboard anchors) or direct screw fixing to masonry or timber stud. The backplate covers a standard circular knockout for the cable entry.
