Description
Actio II is an 80x120cm abstract acrylic painting on stretched canvas, featuring sweeping black brushwork over a cream and soft beige background with fine linear detail throughout. The painting is framed in a black polystyrene edge profile that adds 4.5cm depth to the piece, protecting the canvas edges and giving it a gallery-ready finish straight from the box.
Designed to hang either vertically or horizontally, the painting works as a vertical accent above a console table or sideboard, or horizontally above a sofa or bed headboard in rooms with lower ceilings. The high-contrast palette of black against cream makes it a strong focal point in rooms with neutral walls, and the composition pairs well with Scandinavian, mid-century and contemporary interiors that use natural wood, grey textiles and monochrome accents.
The acrylic paint is applied in layers to build texture on the black curves, while the cream sections remain flat and matte, creating visual interest through depth variation rather than colour. The polystyrene frame is lightweight at 2.39kg, so the painting can be hung on plasterboard with standard picture hooks without needing heavy-duty fixings. The back of the canvas includes pre-fitted hanging hardware ready for installation.
Schuller produces this as part of the Actio series, which includes multiple abstract compositions in complementary palettes. The Actio II uses the largest format in the range at 80x120cm, making it suitable for walls with at least 140cm of clear horizontal space when hung landscape, or 140cm vertical clearance when hung portrait.

Frequently Asked
Can it be hung both vertically and horizontally?
Yes. The painting ships with hanging hardware on the back that allows it to be oriented either way. The composition works in both positions, so orientation depends on your wall space and the furniture arrangement below.
What wall fixings are needed?
At 2.39kg, the painting can be hung on most walls using standard picture hooks rated for 3-5kg. On plasterboard, use two hooks spaced along the top edge rather than a single central hook to distribute the weight.
Is the frame solid wood or plastic?
The frame is black polystyrene, which is lighter than wood and does not warp or crack over time. The material is common in gallery framing for stretched canvas work.
How is the painting cleaned?
Dust the surface with a soft, dry microfibre cloth. Acrylic paint is stable once cured, but avoid touching the painted surface with wet cloths or chemical cleaners as these can dull the finish.
