Description
These pencil pleat curtains carry the Acorn design, a pattern of branching oak foliage and clustered acorns first drawn by William Morris in 1879 from his own wooden hand-printing blocks. Here that drawing is worked as a tonal jacquard, so the motif is woven into the cloth rather than printed on top of it, and it reads as a soft two-tone against the sage ground. The fabric is 100% polyester with a matt finish, which keeps the surface quiet and stops the pattern from shining under a lamp or through daylight. They are sold as a pair and come in a wide spread of sizes.
The sage colouring sits well against painted panelling, natural woods and warm neutral walls, which is why these suit a sitting room, a bedroom or a dining room where the window is a feature rather than an afterthought. Because the curtains are fully lined they hang with real weight and drape into deep folds, so they hold a room's warmth and screen a window properly once drawn. The pencil pleat header gathers the top into even, upright folds and works on both a track and a pole with hooks, giving you flexibility over how you hang them.
The heading is a 5 inch pencil pleat, deep enough to take standard curtain hooks at more than one height so you can adjust the drop a little to suit your fitting. The size is stated as the width of the pair by the drop, running from 117 by 137cm up to 228 by 228cm, so measure your track or pole width and the distance to where you want the hem to fall before choosing. Being polyester, the cloth resists creasing and holds its shape between cleans; it is dry clean and cool iron only. Acorn also appears across the Morris range as cushions and throws, should you want to echo the pattern elsewhere in the room.

Frequently Asked
Do these curtains come as a pair?
Yes, the price is for a pair of curtains, so you receive two panels ready to hang together across one window.
Will a pencil pleat header work on my pole?
A pencil pleat heading takes standard curtain hooks and works on both a curtain pole and a track, gathering the top into even upright folds.
How do I choose the right size?
The first figure is the width of the pair and the second is the drop, so measure your track or pole width and the distance to your desired hem before choosing.
How should I clean them?
These are dry clean only and can be pressed with a cool iron. Polyester resists creasing well, so they should need very little attention between cleans.
Is the pattern printed or woven?
The Acorn design is a jacquard, meaning it is woven into the fabric as a tonal two-tone effect rather than printed onto the surface.
Are they lined?
Yes, these curtains are fully lined, which gives them weight to hang in deep folds and helps them screen the window and hold in warmth.
