Description
The Acanto is a single-arm wall light built around an antique brass scrollwork frame with a cut lead crystal pan at its centre and an amber cream silk shade above. The frame extends from a circular backplate through a curved decorative arm terminating in an upward E14 lamp holder, with the crystal pan sitting immediately below the shade to catch and refract light. The antique brass finish has a deliberately aged patina with darker tonal variation in the recesses of the scrollwork.
Designed for hallways, living rooms, bedrooms and dining rooms where ambient wall lighting is needed without overhead fittings, the Acanto provides diffused light through the silk shade while the crystal pan adds a secondary layer of refracted sparkle. The 220mm projection from the wall positions the light forward of typical picture rails and skirting, making it suitable for alcoves, chimney breasts, and corridor walls. The E14 bulb (sold separately) is dimmable when paired with compatible dimmer switches and dimmable bulbs.
The amber cream silk shade is sewn with vertical ribbing that creates subtle shadow lines when lit, giving texture to the light output. The cut lead crystal pan beneath the shade shows faceted edges that catch direct light from the bulb and scatter it across the brass frame and surrounding wall. At 380mm height and 130mm width the fitting has a vertical proportion that works on walls with limited horizontal space, and the 0.80kg weight fixes securely to plasterboard with appropriate cavity fixings or directly to masonry.
The Acanto range from Mantra includes matching chandeliers, table lamps and floor lights in the same antique brass and crystal style, allowing multiple rooms to be lit with coordinated fittings. The scrollwork detailing on the arm references classical Spanish metalwork traditions, and the warm brass tone pairs with wood furniture, terracotta tiles and warm-painted walls in traditional and transitional interiors.

Frequently Asked
What bulb does the Acanto take?
The lamp uses a single E14 small Edison screw bulb, sold separately. Most users pair this with a 4-6W warm white LED candle bulb at 2700K for a traditional warm glow that complements the amber cream shade.
Is it dimmable?
Yes, when fitted with a dimmable E14 bulb and connected to a compatible dimmer switch. Check that both the bulb specification and the dimmer model support LED dimming if using LED bulbs.
How far does it project from the wall?
The Acanto projects 220mm from the wall surface to the furthest point of the shade. This positions the light forward of typical skirting boards and picture rails, making it suitable for alcoves and chimney breasts without obstruction.
Can it be fitted to plasterboard walls?
Yes. The 0.80kg weight can be supported on plasterboard with metal cavity fixings rated for at least 2kg. For masonry walls, standard wall plugs and screws are sufficient. The backplate conceals the fixing points once installed.
