Description

The Knightsbridge T8BLED15HL is a 1525mm (5ft) single-row LED batten delivering 4800 lumens of 4000K cool white light from an integrated 40W LED module behind a polycarbonate diffuser. The pressed steel housing is finished in white and measures 60mm wide by 85mm projection from the mounting surface, designed as a direct replacement for traditional T8 fluorescent battens in commercial, industrial and utility spaces.

Suitable for workshops, garages, storage rooms, plant rooms, back-of-house areas and any environment requiring high-output functional lighting, the batten mounts directly to ceilings or walls via fixing points at each end of the housing. The IP20 rating limits use to dry indoor environments. The 4000K colour temperature provides a neutral cool white output that aids concentration and visibility for task work, while the 4800lm output from 40W gives an efficacy of 120 lumens per watt.

The polycarbonate diffuser spreads the LED array evenly along the length of the batten, avoiding the hotspotting and dark zones common in cheaper LED battens. The pressed steel construction is lighter and easier to handle during installation than extruded aluminium equivalents, while still providing adequate heat dissipation for the LED driver and module. The fitting is Class I and requires an earth connection during installation.

Knightsbridge backs this batten with a 5-year warranty, covering the integrated LED module, driver and housing. The non-dimmable LED driver runs on standard 230V 50Hz mains supply without requiring external control gear.

Is this batten dimmable?

No. The integrated LED driver is non-dimmable and runs at fixed output on 230V mains. Attempting to use this batten with a dimmer switch will damage the driver.

Can it replace a traditional T8 fluorescent batten?

Yes. This LED batten is designed as a direct replacement for 5ft twin-tube T8 fluorescent battens. The 1525mm length matches standard 5ft fluorescent fittings, and the mounting points align with typical batten fixing centres. Remove the old fluorescent batten completely and wire the LED batten directly to the mains supply.

What's the colour temperature?

4000K cool white. This is a neutral white tone that sits between the warmer 3000K used in residential spaces and the clinical 6000K daylight found in some industrial settings. 4000K suits workshops, garages and commercial back-of-house areas where good visibility is needed without the harshness of daylight-spectrum LEDs.

Can it be used in damp or outdoor locations?

No. The IP20 rating limits this batten to dry indoor environments only. For damp locations such as unheated garages, sheds or covered outdoor areas, a batten rated IP65 or higher is required.
