Description
The Knightsbridge 45A DP switch provides double-pole isolation for cookers, ranges and other high-load appliances, housed in a 2-gang-width anthracite steel faceplate with a red neon indicator. The double-pole switching disconnects both live and neutral lines simultaneously when turned off, preventing accidental operation during cleaning or maintenance and providing safer isolation than single-pole switching for appliances drawing up to 10,800W on 230V mains.
Designed for kitchens where a cooker control unit is needed but a socket outlet is not required, this switch mounts in a standard 2-gang back box with a minimum depth of 47mm. The neon indicator glows red when the switch is in the on position, providing visual confirmation that power is live to the appliance circuit. The anthracite finish is a dark grey-black that coordinates with contemporary kitchens, matt black appliances and industrial-style interiors without the starkness of pure black.
The faceplate is pressed from premium-grade steel and finished in a powder-coated anthracite that resists fingerprints better than polished or glossy finishes. At 147.5mm high and 87.5mm wide, the plate matches standard UK 2-gang dimensions and can replace existing cooker switches without modifying the back box. The 4.3mm projection from the wall keeps the profile low once installed, and the recessed rocker switch sits flush with the faceplate surface.

Frequently Asked
What appliances can this switch control?
The 45A rating supports appliances drawing up to 10,800W on 230V mains. This covers most domestic electric cookers, ranges, and induction hobs. Multiple appliances can share the same switch if their combined load stays within the 45A limit.
What does the neon indicator show?
The red neon glows when the switch is in the on position, confirming that power is live to the appliance circuit. When the switch is off, the neon is dark, indicating the circuit is isolated.
What back box depth is required?
A minimum 47mm back box depth is needed for safe installation. The switch will not fit shallower boxes without compromising terminal space or cable management.
Is this a screwless plate?
No. This is a screw-fixed faceplate. The fixing screws are visible once installed. Knightsbridge produces screwless versions of similar switches in other ranges if a concealed-fixing finish is preferred.
