Description
The Knightsbridge 45A DP cooker switch with 13A switched socket combines a double-pole cooker isolator and a standard 13A outlet behind a polished chrome screwless faceplate with a black insert. The 45A switch carries red neon indicators that light when the switch is in the ON position, providing visual confirmation that the cooker circuit is live. The 13A socket operates independently on its own switch, allowing small kitchen appliances to be powered from the same wall unit.
Designed for kitchen installations where UK Building Regulations require a means of local isolation for electric cookers, hobs and ovens rated up to 10,350W at 230V. The 45A rating handles single-phase appliances drawing up to 45 amps, which covers most domestic electric cookers and combination oven-hob units. The additional 13A socket is rated for standard UK appliance loads up to 3,120W, providing a connection point for kettles, microwaves, toasters or slow cookers within reach of the cooking area.
The double-pole switching isolates both live and neutral lines when turned off, preventing the cooker from being accidentally powered on during cleaning or maintenance. The screwless cover plate clips onto a separate metal sub-frame fixed to the back box, hiding all fixings once installed. The polished chrome finish provides a high-reflectivity metallic accent that pairs with both traditional and contemporary kitchen schemes, while the black insert behind the chrome faceplate defines each aperture and conceals the back of the cover plate. Requires a 47mm minimum back box depth.

Frequently Asked
What back box depth is required?
A 47mm minimum back box depth is needed for safe installation. The screwless cover plate adds approximately 4.3mm of projection from the wall once fitted.
What does the 45A rating cover?
The 45A double-pole switch handles electric cookers, hobs and ovens rated up to 10,350W at 230V on a single phase. This covers most domestic cooking appliances. The separate 13A socket handles standard appliances up to 3,120W.
What do the neon indicators show?
The red neon indicators on the 45A switch light when the switch is in the ON position, confirming that the cooker circuit is live. When the switch is OFF, the neons are dark and the cooker circuit is isolated.
Is the screwless plate removable for redecorating?
Yes. The cover plate clips onto a separate metal sub-frame fixed to the back box. The cover can be removed for painting around the socket and re-clipped without re-wiring.
