Description

Four slim curved shades hang in a line beneath a straight bar finished in antique gold. The glass is amber deepening to smoke, which softens the light and gives a warm, faintly tinted glow when lit and a jewelled look when it is off. At a little over 1.2m from end to end it is long without being bulky, and the drop is adjustable, so the shades can sit high and discreet or low over a surface.

It suits a long table or a kitchen island best, where the run of the bar follows the line of the worktop and the narrow shades keep sightlines clear across the room. A wide hallway or a generous landing takes it well too. Each shade holds an E27 lamp of up to 20W, and we would choose a warm white LED with a compact envelope so it stays tucked neatly inside the glass. With suitable lamps and a dimmer it will dim, which is worth doing where the light hangs close to seated eye level.

The antique gold carries a slightly aged, low sheen rather than a bright plate, so it sits happily with brass taps and darker timber. Dust the bar with a dry duster; for the glass, switch off at the wall, wait until the shades are cool to the touch, then use a lint free cloth lightly dampened with warm water and dry it straight away. Keep it to dry rooms indoors, away from steam and splashes. It carries a one year warranty. We stock the same curved trapezium shade on flush fittings in antique gold and in polished chrome, if you want the look repeated in smaller rooms nearby. Lamps are not included.
