3 Light E27 Pendant Light 40cm Amber - Antique Gold & Amber/Smoke

Three slim curved trapezium shades in amber and smoke hang from a round antique gold plate, evenly spaced so each reads as its own small vessel of colour. The plate measures 40cm across, and the drop is adjustable, so the fitting can sit up close beneath the ceiling or hang well down into a room. Tinted glass warms whatever light passes through it, and the gold has an antique sheen rather than a bright polish.

It suits a dining table, a kitchen island or a wide hallway, anywhere a row of coloured glass does more work than a plain shade. We reach for it where the light wanted is warm rather than cool, and where the shades themselves are meant to be looked at. Each holder takes an E27 lamp up to 20W, and we would choose a compact LED; the amber and smoke tones keep the light gentle. It can be dimmed where suitable lamps and a dimmer are used, though neither is supplied with it.

The shades sit on plated metal, and the antique gold carries across the ceiling plate and the holders so plate, holders and shades read together. Dust gathers on the upper curve of each shade first, so start there with a soft brush or a duster, power off and the glass cool, then a light buff to stop the gold looking cloudy; nothing abrasive, as plating is thin by nature. It carries a one year warranty. Lamps are not included. How low can it hang?

The drop adjusts between 270mm and 2270mm, so it can sit tight beneath a ceiling in a lower room or come down low over a dining table or island.

What lamps does it need?

Three E27 lamps, each up to 20W. They are not included, and an LED is the sensible choice behind tinted glass.

Can it be dimmed?

Yes, provided you use dimmable lamps together with a compatible dimmer. Neither the lamps nor the dimmer comes with the fitting.

How wide is it, and how heavy?

The round ceiling plate is 400mm across and the fitting weighs 4.2kg.

How should the glass be cleaned?

Switch off at the wall and let everything cool, then dust with a soft brush or dry duster and finish with a dry buff. Avoid solvents, scouring pads and anything gritty near the plated parts.

Is it suitable for a bathroom?

No. It is rated for dry rooms only, so keep it to living rooms, kitchens, dining rooms and hallways rather than anywhere with steam or splashing.
