Description
The Knightsbridge 20AX DP key switch module is a front-loading grid component that provides key-operated switching with double pole isolation. The module measures 56.3mm high by 24.8mm wide, fitting a single module space within Knightsbridge's Grid System, and comes with one key supplied (spare keys available separately under code GDKEY).
Designed for controlled access applications in commercial, hospitality and residential settings, the key switch module prevents unauthorised operation of circuits such as lighting zones, display lighting, security systems or heating controls. Double pole switching isolates both live and neutral lines when turned off, providing additional safety over single-pole key switches in installations where complete circuit disconnection is required.
The module is constructed from ABS plastic and steel internals with a matt white finish that integrates cleanly into white or off-white grid plates. The front-loading design means the module can be clipped into position from the front of the grid plate once the plate frame is mounted, simplifying installation and allowing modules to be swapped without removing the entire grid assembly from the wall. The 20AX rating handles loads up to 4,600W on 230V circuits.

Frequently Asked
What is the Knightsbridge Grid System?
The Knightsbridge Grid System is a modular wiring accessory range where individual switch, socket and control modules clip into multi-gang grid plates. This key switch module occupies one module space within a grid plate, and can be combined with other modules such as sockets, dimmers, data ports or blanks to create custom configurations.
What back box depth is required?
A minimum 35mm back box depth is needed for safe installation. The module itself has a recessed depth of 17.3mm when mounted in the grid plate.
Are spare keys available?
Yes. Spare keys are available separately under Knightsbridge code GDKEY. Each module is supplied with one key, but additional keys can be ordered if multiple users need access or a spare is required.
What does double pole switching mean?
Double pole switching isolates both the live and neutral conductors when the switch is turned off, providing complete circuit disconnection. This is a safety feature for installations where full isolation is required, such as security systems, heating controls or equipment that should be completely de-energised when not in use.
