Description
The Knightsbridge 20A flex outlet plate provides a fixed connection point for permanently wired appliances such as heated towel rails, extractor fans, and wall-mounted heaters. The plate accepts cable up to 10mm diameter through a central grommet with built-in strain relief, routing the flex safely from the back box through to the appliance without visible cable runs or trailing plugs.
Designed for residential bathrooms, kitchens and utility rooms where fixed appliances need a permanent connection to the mains, the outlet eliminates the need for a socket and plug arrangement. The 20A rating handles continuous loads up to 4,600W at 230V, comfortably exceeding the draw of most domestic towel rails and extraction units. The plate fits a standard 25mm minimum back box depth and is fixed with two visible screws top and bottom.
The brushed chrome finish is applied to a 304 stainless steel faceplate with rounded edges, giving a softer profile than sharp-edged plates and reducing the risk of snagging on towels or clothing in tight spaces. The terminal block inside accepts three conductors of 2.5mm² cross-section or two conductors of 4.0mm² cross-section, with twin earth terminals for added connection security. The IP20 rating confirms the plate is suitable for dry indoor locations only.

Frequently Asked
What appliances is this flex outlet suitable for?
The 20A rating handles fixed appliances up to 4,600W continuous load at 230V. Typical applications include heated towel rails, bathroom extractor fans, wall-mounted heaters and kitchen extraction units. It is not suitable for appliances that need a switchable socket or regular plug/unplug cycles.
What cable size does it accept?
The central grommet accepts cable up to 10mm diameter. The terminals accept three conductors of 2.5mm² cross-section or two conductors of 4.0mm² cross-section, with twin earth terminals for secure earthing.
What back box depth is required?
A 25mm minimum back box depth is needed for safe installation. The plate itself has a 12.7mm projection from the wall once fitted.
Can it be used in a bathroom?
The IP20 rating means the plate is suitable for dry indoor locations only. It can be used in a bathroom to supply a heated towel rail, provided it is installed outside the designated bathroom zones (typically Zone 0, 1, 2) as defined by BS 7671 wiring regulations.
