Description

The Knightsbridge 20A 1-gang DP switch combines a double-pole isolator, neon power indicator and flex outlet in a single metal clad unit with a powder-coated grey finish. The switch controls hardwired appliances rated up to 20A (4,600W on 230V mains), with the flex outlet providing a cable entry point below the rocker for permanent connection rather than plug-and-socket use.

Designed for utility rooms, workshops, garages and light commercial installations where higher-rated appliances such as water heaters, extraction fans, or workshop equipment require local isolation with visual confirmation of power status. The neon indicator glows red when the switch is in the ON position, providing instant visual feedback that the circuit is live. The double-pole switching isolates both live and neutral lines when turned off, a safer arrangement than single-pole switching for high-draw appliances.

The unit is supplied as a complete assembly with an integrated metal back box measuring 48.4mm deep, eliminating the need to source and fit a separate back box during installation. The SPCC steel construction and powder-coated finish provide durability in environments where plastic faceplates would be prone to impact damage or UV degradation. The grey finish sits comfortably in unfinished or semi-finished utility spaces without drawing attention.

Frequently Asked

What is the flex outlet for?

The flex outlet is a cable entry point below the switch rocker that allows permanent wiring of an appliance cable directly to the switch terminals, rather than using a plug and socket. This is typical for hardwired appliances like water heaters, workshop extractors or fixed equipment.

Does the neon indicator stay lit when the switch is on?

Yes. The red neon indicator glows continuously when the switch is in the ON position, providing visual confirmation that the circuit is live. It turns off when the switch is turned off.

Is a separate back box needed?

No. The unit is supplied as a complete assembly with an integrated metal back box at 48.4mm depth, so no separate back box needs to be purchased or fitted.

What appliances is this suitable for?

The 20A rating handles appliances drawing up to 4,600W on 230V mains. Common applications include immersion heaters, water heaters, garage workshop extractors, air compressors and other fixed equipment requiring local isolation with visual power status.
