Description
The Knightsbridge 20A 1-gang DP switch controls fixed appliances such as electric water heaters, immersion heaters and electric showers behind an antique brass screwless faceplate. The double-pole switching isolates both live and neutral lines when turned off, providing complete circuit isolation for higher-draw appliances rated up to 20A (4,600W on 230V mains).
Designed for kitchens, utility rooms and bathrooms where fixed appliances need a dedicated isolator, the switch fits a standard 25mm minimum back box depth and uses a screwless cover plate that clips onto a separate metal sub-frame. This removes visible screws or fixings from the wall once installed, giving a cleaner finish than traditional screw-fixed plates. The built-in gasket between the plate and the wall improves resistance to dust ingress in high-traffic areas.
The antique brass finish is applied to 201 stainless steel, giving the plate a warm aged metallic appearance that pairs well with traditional, farmhouse and heritage interiors. The rocker itself is also finished in matching antique brass, maintaining visual consistency across the entire faceplate. The low-profile design projects just 9.3mm from the wall once fitted, making it suitable for locations where a flush finish is preferred.

Frequently Asked
What appliances is a 20A switch used for?
A 20A DP switch is rated to control fixed appliances drawing up to 4,600W on 230V mains. Common applications include electric water heaters, immersion heaters, electric showers, and some electric ovens or cookers. It provides complete circuit isolation when turned off.
What back box depth is required?
A 25mm minimum back box depth is needed for safe installation. The screwless cover plate projects 9.3mm from the wall once fitted, giving a total depth of approximately 35mm from the back of the box to the front of the plate.
Is the screwless plate removable for redecorating?
Yes. The antique brass cover plate clips onto a separate metal sub-frame fixed to the back box. The cover can be removed for painting around the switch and re-clipped without re-wiring.
